Yes, we have grey hair. Yes, Parkinson’s Disease ended our careers. But no, we haven’t retired — we’re rewiring.
We’ve downsized and are renovating our beachside home while balancing life with elderly parents, a growing family, and specialist appointments. Alongside that, we volunteer for Parkinson’s research and pursue our love for adventure travel and remote camping across Australia.
Camping has always been our escape. Now, without the constraints of work, we’re free to set new goals and explore future adventures. While the idea of full-time travel or completing the “big lap” around Australia tempted us, we realized we didn’t want to miss out on the joy of seeing ourfamily grow. So, we’ve chosen a different path — 6 to 12 months exploring remote parts of Australia, gradually connecting the dots on that big lap.
But the adventure doesn’t stop there. Tasmania, Arnhem Land, the Victorian Highlands, and even overseas destinations likeSpain, Italy, and Antarctica are on our list. Yet our greatest adventure is living with Parkinson’s Disease, navigating its uncertainties with optimism.
Setting goals, making plans, and simply enjoying the view — that’s our best medicine.

In 2025, The Adventure Is, Bright, takes us on a year-long journey across Australia to explore its stunning landscapes and iconic lighthouses. This adventure isn’t just about discovering the beauty of our incredible country—it’s about raising funds and awareness for Parkinson’s Disease, a cause close to our hearts.
From the rugged coastlines of Kangaroo Island to the vibrant underwater worlds of Ningaloo and the Great Barrier Reef, our journey is filled with extraordinary moments. We’ll encounter orcas in Bremer Bay, swim with whale sharks off Exmouth, and ride camels along Cable Beach in Broome. In the Kimberley and Arnhem Land, we’ll immerse ourselves in ancient, untamed landscapes, and at Cape York, we’ll stand at the northernmost point of Australia.
Lighthouses will guide our journey, standing as powerful symbols of hope, strength, and resilience. Much like these beacons, those living with Parkinson’s navigate life’s unpredictable storms with courage and determination. Their journey is one of perseverance, finding light even in the darkest moments, and inspiring others around them with their unwavering spirit.
This adventure is about more than exploration—it’s a mission to make a difference. Every step, every story, and every lighthouse we visit shines a spotlight on the need for greater understanding, connection, and support for Parkinson’s Disease. Together, we can illuminate the path to a brighter future.
Join us in this incredible journey. Follow along, donate, and help us raise awareness as we travel Australia, celebrating the human spirit and proving that, no matter how rough the seas, we can all stand strong and shine on
The love of the ocean will always call to us, its beauty and endless horizons a constant reminder of nature’s wonder. But our passion for adventure travel leads us to the roads less traveled, where Australia’s hidden gems and off-grid destinations reveal themselves. From rugged coastlines to remote deserts, this land offers endless opportunities to explore.
Australia’s beauty isn’t just in its landscapes—it’s in its people. Along the way, we find connections with locals, share stories around campfires, and experience the heart of the country through its vibrant communities. Whether it’s snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, trekking through ancient rainforests, or navigating red-dusted tracks, every journey uncovers something unforgettable.
For us, The Adventure Is about more than the destination. It’s about embracing the unknown, discovering breathtaking places, and celebrating the incredible spirit of Australia. The ocean may always guide us, but the thrill of exploring this remarkable country keeps us moving forward.
The Kimberley and the Gibb River Road: A Three-Month Outback Adventure
In April 2017, we embarked on an unforgettable journey through the heart of Australia. Setting off through central Queensland, we powered across the Northern Territory, making our way to the stunning Lake Argyle and the outback gem, Kununurra. The adventure truly kicked off as we wound our way along the Great Northern Highway, detouring to marvel at the surreal beauty of the Bungle Bungles before reaching the iconic coastal town of Broome.
After soaking in Broome’s laid-back charm, we pushed further north to the pristine beaches of Cape Leveque, spending a few serene days at Middle Lagoon. But the real thrill began as we ventured into the wild heart of the Kimberley—the legendary Gibb River Road. For 19 days, we immersed ourselves in its rugged landscapes, discovering remote treasures like Kalumburu and hidden gorges that felt like they were straight out of a movie.
Our adventure wasn’t complete without exploring the waterfalls and lush forests of Litchfield National Park near Darwin. After almost three months
In 2022, we embarked on our most ambitious challenge yet: raising awareness for Parkinson’s Disease on an epic journey across Australia.
Starting from the iconic shores of Byron Bay, the Easternmost tip of mainland Australia we set off on an unforgettable trek that took us through some of the country’s most remote and awe-inspiring landscapes. We braved the vast Simpson Desert, stood in awe of the majesty of Uluru, and conquered the rugged Gunbarrel Highway. Our journey led us to the windswept cliffs of Steep Point, the westernmost tip of mainland Australia.
But the adventure didn’t stop there. We hugged the dramatic coastlines of Western and South Australia, witnessing breathtaking ocean views and untouched beauty. We passed through the nation’s capital, Canberra, before finally making our way back home to Brisbane, having covered thousands of kilometers in our quest to spread hope and awareness for Parkinson’s.
This journey was more than just the kilometres traveled—it was a powerful testament to resilience, determination, and the incredible landscapes that make Australia so remarkable.
Our absolute favourite destination is that incredible off-grid camp spot—hopefully just around the next corner.
